Border Abbeys 2010
Kelso to Jedburgh 13.5 miles
We saw the Abbey and walked on
Towards another by a stream,
The company, a sprightly mob
Chatted and walked the distance long
From Abbey to Abbey on we walked,
Fellowship was often felt,
To raise some Money for a Trust
Helped soothe the sluggish limbs along
While Callum’s name was often heard
The crew thought more about the folk
Who would come after, live and laugh
Thanks to the blister’s raised that day
So come and join us in our quest
To help those who could not walk this way
Help us lighten loads and place
A smile upon their face each day
By Hans Waltl – (one of the walkers who was inspired by the event to write a poem)

Border Abbeys 2010
Melrose to Kelso 18 miles
5 took part in the longest walk which was from melrose to kelso and was 18 miles, the youngest walker was 12 and all managed the distance no problem. Thanks to the Bairds at Manorhill for their hospitality providing a welcome break out of the rain which was never far away but didn't dampen enthusiasm. As the walks progress we will see increased numbers but there's still space for plenty more!

St Cuthbert's Way Run
Border triatheletes run over 60 miles
The St Cuthert's Challenge has been on my mind for around a year now, after a training run with the tri club on a short route of the walk. I had discussed with a colleague about whether it was possible to run it in a day or not. We decided it was! Did some research on the net and only found one site that had an article of a woman running the route. She had two attempts at it before finally achieving her goal. Last year when on holiday I decided that I should start from Melrose and see how far I could run. Got as far as Yetholm, (half way) and knew then that I could do it. Started training for it in earnest at the beginning of the year. The Borders Triathlete club tend to have a challenge every year and I proposed this one. Did the necessary logistics and planning of the route and right tide times for the weekend. What I didn't take into consideration was the training would be quite different to tri training . It took me almost 14 hours of running time and 7400 calories to accomplish the Challenge and it was a pleasure to do it

The Big Cycle 2010
50 riders set off on the big cycle
The weather was good, the rain held off and we took to the beautiful country roads and cycle paths around the Scottish Borders. Cyclists, young and old, veterans to newbies, full-sus mountain bikes to lightweight roadies, took on the challenge of the 10, 25 and 50 mile routes.
Everyone had a brilliant day and we loved getting out and meeting you all. You all put in a massive effort and we extend our deepest thanks to everyone who took part and helped out on the day

Penielheugh Again!
This time it's a 1000ft zipslide
The 2nd of May saw 7 rather frozen fundraisers on the top of a hill looking up at the ominous Penielheugh Monument.
The monument is 150 ft high and the objective – to climb up the stairs to the top and zipslide 1000ft down to earth again at quite a speed! As you can see it was really cold on the top of the hill but it didn’t put them off too much, they were even dancing to keep warm and they all enjoyed the zipslide experience, Jackie even feeling brave enough to wave!!
Well done to Andrew, James, Rhiannon, Jackie, Christine, Jeanette and Tracey who collectively have raised over £1200 between them for Callum’s Trust!! .
